This year I had the chance to talk in Ceuta, Fez, Zagora, Bir Gandouz (Dakhla) and Marrakesh about Saharan caravans, architectural heritage, nomadism, territory and urban planning in the desert, water and contemporary culture. qafila thalitha bolex 16mm /
In October we did Qafila Thalitha, the third part of a practical research on caravans. We walked 330km between Tissint (Tata) and Tighmert (Guelmim) in the Moroccan desert. The logistic was provided by Said Razgui and his brother Mouloud and the nomad Omar came with me.
Us usual we tried several mediums and formats to document the experience. This is the uncut version of the video made with a 16mm Bolex.

APPEL À CANDIDATURES ARTISTES VISUELS et VIVANTS (danse et théâtre)
Les candidats qui veuillent participer à la cinquième édition de Caravane Tighmert, qui aura lieu du 30 mars au 7 avril 2019, devront envoyer un mail à caravanetighmert@gmail.com avec l'information suivante:
1 un lien (site web, page Facebook, blog, Instagram…) ou bien quelques images représentatives de votre travail.
2 un petit texte (pas un projet artistique) explicatif sur votre interêt pour cette rencontre , ainsi que les sujets sur lesquels porteront vos recherches (en total un ou deux paragraphes).
Pour éviter des malentendus:
- si jamais vous ne recevez pas un récépissé après l'envoie de votre mail à caravanetighmert@gmail.com cela veut dire que nous ne l'avons pas reçu et vous devriez l'envoyer à nouveau.
- il y a des artistes qui seront invités directement parce qu'ils développent déjà une recherche sur l'oasis, mais avec cet appel nous voulons donner l'opportunité de participer à d'autres artistes et compris les jeunes.
- la date limite pour envoyer l'information sera le 31 décembre à minuit (heure marocaine). Le 15 janvier vous recevrez un mail pour vous communiquer si vous avez été retenu ou pas.
- Caravane Tighmert est un laboratoire de création contemporaine et il donne la possibilité de mener des ateliers avec les habitants de l'oasis (enfants, jeunes, adultes...) afin de mieux comprendre l’oasis, de produire une œuvre avec les matériaux trouvés sur place ou bien de faire des recherches sur des sujets liés à la culture du désert. Attention, il s'agit pas de faire une exposition sinon de partager des réflexions, des expériences, des inquiétudes... autour de la culture dans des endroits aussi particuliers comme celui de l'oasis de Tighmert et ses environs.
- l'organisation logera et nourrira les artistes chez l'habitant, mais elle ne payera pas ni les frais de transport jusqu'à Tighmert, ni la production des œuvres, ni donnera de l'argent de poche.

In 2016 I bought a Lomokino camera in order to film the experience during Qafila Oula (a practical research on caravans) because for two weeks I was going to walk in the desert with no electric equipments and I had to use just analog cameras.
Now I have tested for the first time the Lomokino with color film (Kodak Color Plus 200) in the medina of Marrakesh, but essentially for taken pictures. These are the results:

caravane tighmert 2015-2017 /
In 2015 we decided to organise a festival in the oasis of Tighmert, Guelmim, with our friends of the "Association des Amis du Festival Caravane Tighmert". We believed (we still believe) that there is a lot of contemporaneity in oasian cultures and also that visual and performing artists could come to create new contemporary works based on traditional culture. We though we could create a laboratory for contemporary oasian culture, it didn't matter if Tighmert was far away from Moroccan culture centres, if we were in the desert, if we had no money and no institutional support because thanks to people's generosity, donating money or welcoming artists, we have been organising this event since 2015 and we still will... It is our small contribution to contemporary creation in Morocco.

La frontera de Ceuta se ha convertido en una crisis de Estado pero que se inició al menos, hace 8 años. ¿Qué han hecho nuestras autoridades desde entonces? ¿Qué soluciones proponen? Mi impresión es que el futuro de la ciudad tendrá un color bastante oscuro...
